This is an interview with Max Gaertner, who is a Frankfurt/Main based percussionist, author, composer and clinican. He played a performance @ the Ableton Loop conference 2016 in Berlin, thats how I found out about him. As I was pretty impressed by his playing and as I haven’t had much contact before to people and projects from a more classical music background using Ableton Live, I decided to interview Max to find out more about this approach.
We talked about his daily schedule, his approach to music, performance and writing, covering subjects like his working flow, his set up for his composing process, what and where he lectures, what and how he does perform and of course the challenges he is facing, how he does his visuals and what collaborations he is doing, what he is planning to achieve next and how he manages to get away from being busy. Enjoy!
